Isaac and Suke to take ballpark issue on today

Listening to the end of the Monty show, Isaac and Suke came on to tease that they were going to talak ballpark during some part of their 10-1 slot. Monty weighed as an Oakland-backer, saying that the team won’t be the same. Isaac talked about the difficult choices to be made about revenue for the future. Should be interesting, coming up.

Update 10:50 – Awesome call Jeffrey. BTW, still no Victory Court EIR.

Update 11:40 – I’ve liked the discussion so far. Isaac and Suke admittedly don’t know everything about the subject, but they’re giving everyone a shot to give their two cents. If they have people going with the crazy talk on the station’s Facebook page like “These guys are being paid by Wolff” they’re covering it well. It’s not an easy topic to cover and people tend to act more from emotion than pragmatism. Also – good call about the impact of redevelopment. It’s the lengthiest discussion on the radio about the A’s stadium issue ever, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Also, thanks for the plugs callers.

  1. I wonder how Monty feels about the Warriors move from SF to Oakland?

  2. Came in late and I was like, “man, this guy know his stuff.” Go Jeffrey!

  3. ha… it was just irking me…

  4. Ok- help those of us out that didn’t get to hear it- any new relevant points about Oakland that issac brought in- or pretty much standard pts?

  5. @GoA’s – Nothing new.

  6. What did Jeffrey say? Stuck at work right now.

  7. @ Tony D. – a guy called and said Wolff himself gave up T-Rights in the 90s, so Jeff set him straight on that. Also said that SJ has more realities going for it and Oakland screwed the pooch back in the day with Brown as Mayor.

  8. Damn, I missed it. I haven’t listened to too much of this station outside of the A’s and Townie. Needs work. At least it sounds good in FM.

ML: FWIW, good artilce in all the BANG papers on the scheduling and the A’s getting only 5 Bosox/Yanks games this year– weekday games at that.

  9. jk… The A’s have to be able to draw consistently large crowds outside of the Yankees and Red Sox.

  10. tony, I just let the guys know that it was’t Wolff who gave the rights to the Giants (someone had said ti was), that the longer context here starts with Mt. Davis and that the real question isn’t “Where should a stadium be built?” it is “Where can it be built?”

  11. Complete silence on the Oakland preliminary EIR. This can’t be good. Have to believe that if they were finding the ballpark doable, they’d be rushing to shout it from the housetops.

  12. @pjk: The same could be said for MLB’s decision. Also, 95.7 Sports Talk was sprung upon us without warning. Life is full of surprises.

  13. Great comeback show today by Isaac and Suke. Now we just need to get rid of those morons during the afternoon drive time.

  14. I though the Issac and Suke section was terrible. Repeated only Lew’s talking points and no other facts. Was very condescending towards Pro-Oakland fans. I felt that it had a high pro-ownership stance on not just the A’s situation but sports in general. I know NewBallpark commenter’s loved it because it repeated stuff they like to hear, but I felt it was a sub-par show. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt because they arn’t from around here but they should do more homework.

  15. BTW 6-8 months for draft eir. Its only been 5. Chill out.

    • @Dinosaur Jr. – Oakland and LGO are trying to get the whole thing wrapped up in less than a year. How’s that gonna happen if the draft takes up to 8 months?

BTW, you said this, “I have no bias of my own…” a while back. Your comments belie that supposed lack of bias. No big deal, just calling it as it is.

  16. So far the only program I find unlistenable on this station so far is the Monty show. He NEEDS two or 3 more people in the studio with him. Most morning shows have multiple people, not just ONE dude going on and on and on and on.

Also, I’m surpised this ballpark topic hasn’t gotten tired for you guys. Its several years away.

  17. agreed about monty, move the current 10-1 guys to the morning and get tittle to 10-1.

this stadium issue, really won’t get too emotioally involved until that idiot bs makes his decision. townsend thinks that if and when sj gets all the land for the park that’s when he’s waiting to make his decision. townsend had a great rant about territorial rights last fri.

“townsend thinks that if and when sj gets all the land for the park that’s when he’s waiting to make his decision.” Damn straight! Townsend is one smart fella 😉 By the way RM, any status report on the land deals in SJ?

  18. Listening a bit to the Townshend show, it sounds like a fair number of fans weren’t even aware that As ownership wants to move the team to SJ.
    .
It’s good that the issue is getting more publicity.
    .
And I love the new 95.7. It’s great having a home for As and Sharks talk.

  19. so thats how Jeffrey sounds…lol

  20. @LeAndre, and he sound even smarter in person:-)

  21. Smart? Ha… I don’t know how smart I sound, but I have called into talk radio shows for the first time in my life the past two days.
    .
I am loving this 95.7, I gotta feeling this is gonna turn out awesome.

  22. yeah still needs a little fine tuning, but I’m loving 95.7.. especially all the sharks talk after last nights classic.. go sharks go A’s!!!!!
